“Here I am”.
This was the motto of the International Youth Day 2019.
From 30 May to 2 June, around 30,000 youths and young adults celebrated their faith, both at Messe Düsseldorf and in the Merkur Spiel Arena.
The Media Spectrum team equipped a total of four exhibition halls with stages and the corresponding technology for sound, lighting and video. But this was not enough, because in addition, a large open-air stage, including lighting and sound & video technology, was set up on the exhibition grounds itself, which was designed for about 20,000 spectators.
The exhibition halls 8A and 8B were also equipped with seating for 10,000 spectators each and the exhibition halls 5 and 7 for 5,000 spectators each.
In the exhibition halls and on the open-air grounds there was a lot to see and experience during the four days of the event. Church services, countless workshops and music events were only part of the programme.
There were also performances by a large gospel choir consisting of about 500 participants. They performed a piece from their repertoire at the opening and closing of the event.
Nine additional exhibition halls served as overnight accommodation and catering meeting points during the event.
The opening ceremony of the Youth Day was accompanied by pyro effects, musical performances, theatre and dance. The young people from Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Australia praised above all the generally good mood and good humour of the visitors.
The highlight on Sunday was the divine service with Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider in the Merkur Spiel Arena Düsseldorf, followed by a musical finale, before the young people returned home.
A team of 500 people and around 2,500 other volunteers were involved in the organisation of the event.
We are happy to have contributed to this great event!
